- At this time of year, we all have a wonderful opportunity to make a fresh start and renew our commitment to our priorities.
- But in order to move forward and get things done, it is important to start from an organized and efficient base.
Studies show that decluttering is not only good for your home, but it is also good for you on an emotional level. Too much stuff can create confusion and confusion leads to lack of decision. Keeping hold of old papers, magazines, electronics and old clothes you no longer use can hold you back from moving on to the future. Being disorganized means you are unready to take the opportunities that life offers, while being organized in your own personal space means you are ready for whatever the future holds.
It is all too easy to collect lots of possessions that take up time because they need organizing, keeping clean and looking after. The more possessions you have, the more time they consume.

Possessions can be anchors to the past and too many can cause us to look back rather than forward — although I must admit to keeping a chest full of family mementos from my childhood. If it is a family heirloom, keep it. It is an important memory to your family! Other things that don't mean much to you, you could throw out.
Clutter is a recognized symptom and cause of stress and can be overwhelming.
The world order is changing and where there was a time when we could spend, spend, spend and have everything new, we now need to look at our spending habits. We also need to teach our children to think before they spend. “Do I really need this?” Teenagers feel pressure to consume and keep up with friends, but as the world changes, the young may not have the same spending power as their parents had.
Children do tend to spend a lot of time in their rooms and can feel overwhelmed by all the clutter; and it can all too easily end up in a mess. It is hard then to expect them to be organized and efficient in their studying if they are living in chaos. I am a great believer in being organized in your personal space as this leads to an organized mind: This is what I tell my teenage son. Children and teens often need a hand to get it all organized and to declutter and find a space for everything. Teaching them how to get organized and stay organized is a habit that will help them when they live on their own.
If you cannot find a place for everything, then you have too much stuff and you have to spend a morning with some black bags and sort the clutter into charity bags and rubbish bags. The best way to declutter is to start with your bedroom and bathroom and have a good declutter. This makes it so much easier to keep the home clean and tidy.
Many women have so many clothes they do not know what to wear and so go out and buy something new. For myself, I try to stick to a rule: One outfit in, one outfit out.
So change starts with you. Start the year from an efficient organized base. New Year is a time when we can draw a line and leave behind all of the baggage that no longer serves us.
Once your home and office is organized, it is up to you to make a list of where you want to go from here.
People say they're going to stop smoking, but according to psychologists, the reason people find it is hard to do is you're replacing this behavior with no behavior. So what you need to do is replace a bad habit with some other good habits.
If you want to quit smoking, adopt the target to run two kilometers.
It is hard to remain a smoker if you are trying to run. If you are very unfit, always start with a daily walk. Then gradually start to run for one minute and walk for one minute. Eventually, you will be able to run for the full two kilometers. You could use the treadmill at the gym, but it is good for you now that it is cool to get some good fresh air into your lungs. This will help you stop smoking and get fit. I also suggest for your health to take a good quality multivitamin such as Permea Plus and eat two pieces of fruit daily. You will soon look and feel so much better.
