Executive Director of ECIS Jean Vahey and charges d’affaires at the Saudi Embassy and member of KFA’s board of trustees Abdulrahman Al-Suhaibani also attended.

The London International Schools Association (LISA) is a supportive professional organization for school heads of the European Council for International Schools (ECIS) member schools in the United Kingdom. LISA is committed to promoting professional dialogue and activities toward better education.

Chairwoman of the Board of LISA Sumaya Al-Youssef for two years now had been pushing for the conference to take place at KFA.

The conference started at 8:30 a.m. and lasted until 3 p.m. It included a welcome address by Al-Youssef and a keynote speech by George Walker. Walker’s career has spanned teaching science, university lecturer, school leadership as director of the School of Geneva (the world’s oldest and largest international school), and ultimately as director general of the International Baccalaureate Organization.

In the speech introducing Walker, Al-Youssef added: “An individual dedicated to the values we are teaching in many of our schools today, George Walker has written several books, including ‘To Educate the Nations,’ which is a collection of his many inspiring speeches presented worldwide.”

The rest of the day included workshop sessions for all the attendees, a speech by Safaruk Chowdhury on Islam and the mosaic of global perspectives and a Saudi cultural dance by the students of KFA.

The KFA also set up a Bedouin tent in the school where they served Saudi coffee and dates accompanied by a henna artist and an oud player to introduce Saudi culture and heritage to the members of LISA.
