- JEDDAH: Ohud rolled to its seventh straight win by beating Ansar 72-68 Monday night in the Saudi Basketball Federation League.
Ohud has beaten Qadisia, Jubail, Wehdah, Nahdah, Safa, Khualdiah, and Ansar so far in the first round of play. Its next four games are tough teams in Fath, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli.
In other games Monday, Wehdah downed Nahdah 60-54, Khualdiah topped Safa 61-58, Qadisia beat Jubail 86-76 and Hilal defeated Fath 80-73.
Last Thursday Ittihad hosted Hilal here in Jeddah. Hilal got off to a good start leading after the first quarter 22-17. Hilal held the lead through the half 37-33 and in the third period 57-48.
Ittihad made a push in the final minutes and came within two points before losing. Final score: Hilal 70 Ittihad 64.
Hilal’s import player Redwan Suleiman had 23 points, and Hani Abdul Rahman hit 21. Ittihad’s import Reggie Okosa scored 23, and Jabber Al Kabri had 21 in the game. In other games Thursday night, its Ansar 102 Safa 69, Ohud 85 Khualdiah 70, Fath 74 Ahli 59, Qadisia 70 Nahdah 69, and Wehdah 79 Jubail 48.
The top seven teams to face off this week are Ohud, Fath, Ansar, Hilal, Ahli, Wehdah, and Ittihad.
