- RIYADH: It's a Globe Summit with a difference.
- Here the summiteers are four world-renowned chefs from some of the world's most acclaimed kitchens.
These chefs from France, Italy and Mexico will present their mouth-watering cuisine at a gala event, dubbed the Globe Summit 2012, part of Globe restaurant's annual culinary event that will take place from February 13 to 17 in three premium venues within the five-star Al Faisaliah Hotel.
Al Faisaliah Hotel, a Rosewood Hotel in Riyadh, did a similar event last year when it invited the media to its gastronomic show, which marks the pinnacle of Riyadh's culinary calendar.
It is hailed as the most anticipated annual gastronomic event in the Kingdom, where seasoned chefs lay out their respective signature ingredients to tickle the taste buds of Riyadh's gourmets.
In his opening remarks, Hussein Hatata, vice president, said the hotel is dedicated to serving its clients so that they could the richness and diversity of international cuisine.
"This is a merely a kind of finding something special for our valued customers regardless of the financial aspect," Hatata said at a press conference.
According to him, since the opening of the Globe Restaurant in, it has become synonym for culinary excellence in all aspects. It has achieved international awards for its unique architectural design with its different cuisine and dishes.
Alex Pichel, the hotel's new general manager, said Al-Faisaliah Globe Summit, following its debut in 2010, has quickly grown to become a much anticipated event on the social calendar, not only in Riyadh but throughout the Kingdom and beyond into the neighboring region.
He said: "We are extremely proud that it is held here at the Al Faisaliah Hotel. We are bringing to Riyadh four exceptional Grand Chefs who are all award-winners and stand at the pinnacle of their culinary careers."
Pichel said the hotel constantly refines and innovates its offering to make it an important part of the Al-Faisaliah Hotel ethos and that the Globe Summit is no exception.
This year's event will incorporate a wide range of exceptional culinary events, including a series of inspiring studio lunches, an unforgettable brunch and tea experience, besides a number of invaluable culinary seminars and workshops.
According to the general manager, the Grand Chefs will jet into the Kingdom for five days of sublime gastronomic excellence, taking place at three venues: the international award-winning Globe Restaurant, the Al-Faisaliah Tower, the contemporary La Cuscina restaurant in the stylish new Al Faisaliah Hotel South, and the Cristal, the haute dining destination in the North.
The event will open with a French Business Lunch, created by Chef Michel Portos, holder of two Michelin stars.
Studio lunches during the week will include "Cocina Regional" lunches by Michelin-starred Mexican executive chef Carlos Hannon and a "Pasta of Gragnano" lunch created by equally decorated Chef Nino Di Costanzo who will present a menu prepared with the famous organic pasta flown in directly from Italy.
The Al-Faisaliah Brunch" on Friday February 17 will combine the culinary talents and a spectacular show by all four Grand Chefs participating in this year.
In the evening, the collective gastronomic vision of the Grand Chefs will be showcased in a variety of five-course dinners that will transport diners to the respective home countries of the culinary masters and will include a "Tango Height", Mediterranean-Asian Fusion, Art e Passione and Mexican Avantagarde" themes.
