Muhammad bin Salamah said his ailing mother wanted to import a driver but her request was refused. "My mother was shocked to find out that she had foreigners under her sponsorship without her knowledge," he said.

When Salamah told the employee at the recruitment office that his mother had never recruited a foreigner before, the employee gave him a computer printout with the names of the four foreigners under his mother's sponsorship. "The surprising thing is that the printout clearly showed that my mother had been the sponsor of these foreigners for more than 20 years," he said.

Salamah said his mother was uneducated and had only recently obtained a separate ID card.

Salamah said he suspected the recruitment visas might have been issued illegally. He also did not dismiss the possibility of a computer mistake.

Salamah has written a letter to the officials concerned, asking them to intervene so his ailing mother could recruit a driver.
