Jammu Kashmir Community Chairman Sardar Mohammad Jawaid Khan in his address appreciated PRC for organizing the symposium to highlight the issue of Kashmir. He called on the Muslim world to unite to solve the issue of Kashmir and Palestine since people there are suffering as the occupation forces are suppressing their right of freedom.

He said that under the UN charter India must hold a plebiscite in Kashmir to decide their fate without which this issue will never be resolved. He said Kashmiris will fight against Indian forces and will never give up their basic rights. He also urged the government to activate the Rabita Trust to repatriate and rehabilitate stranded Pakistanis.

Mohammad Jamil Rathore, general secretary of Pakistan Journalists Forum, proposed that the Pakistan government should strongly put the Kashmir issue on the table in its talks with India rather than talking about different options and diplomacy since these did not work for the past 65 years.

Vice President of Urdu Markaz Gulab Khan praised PRC’s role in highlighting the cause of Kashmir and stranded Pakistanis. He said solving Kashmir is vital not only for Pakistan but for whole Ummah since a strong Pakistan can play a strong role in peace in subcontinent and the world. He said that we should consider other options after failure of negotiations with India.

Agha Akram of Pakistan Peoples Community said that the issue of Kashmir is part of agenda of every government but we have not seen any concrete measures to solve it and we hope the chairman of the Kashmir Committee can update us on it.

Community leader Mohammad Ashfaque Badaouni said that we have failed to convince the Muslim world and rest of the world about our stance and reason for the Kashmir cause, hence India is taking advantage of it.

Community leader Riaz Ghumman Choudhry said that sacrifices of hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris will bring result and they will be soon be freed from Indian domination.

Convener Ehsanul Haque thanked all the guests, speakers and poets for participating in the symposium.  He said the Kashmir issue is major point of conflict between Pakistan and India which already has led to wars so it is critical that earlier the issue is resolved it is better for peace in the subcontinent.

Hamid Islam Khan, Shamsuddin Altaf, Rasheed Chishti (chairman Saraiki Committee), Syed Shehabuddin also spoke highly of Muslim Ummah’s role in solving the issue of Kashmir.

Renowned poets Syed Mohsin Alavi, Abdul Qayyum Waseq, Zamurrad Khan Saifi, presented poems in tribute to Kashmiri martyrs. The meeting ended with other resolutions being adopted.
