This was stated by Prince Abdullah bin Musaed bin Abdulrahman Al-Saud, chairman of the Tahamah cement project.

The contract for this project was signed in December 2009.

The second line contains an oven with a production capacity of 5,000 clinker tons a day. The cement mill can produce 150 clinker tons an hour.

Four electrical generators of 32 megawatts capacity are supporting the cement plant.

With these facilities, the production capacity has increased to 10,000 clinker tons a day at the two lines. The factory’s total output capacity has now reached 11,000 tons per day.

This factory plays major role in support the Kingdom’s development projects as cement demand has grown 12 percent from 2001 to 2011.

The Southern Province cement company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, contributed to meeting the growing demand for cement in the southern and western provinces through its three companies in Jazan, Bisha and Tahamah.

These facilities cumulatively produce more than 24,500 clinker tons a day after the second line entered the production line with 19,000 clinker tons a day.

The mill produces a total of 26,000 cement tons a day at the three factories after the second line mill entered the production line in Tahamah.

The prince thanked the government for promoting national industries.
