Sponsored by Danya Foods Ltd. the first tournament at Intercon attracted golfers of various nationalities that had a wonderful time out on the executive par-3 course, which was in excellent condition and the greens challenging even for the regular to meet level par.

Resty, a mechanical engineer by profession and FGA (Filipino Golf Association) official, compiled 36 Stableford points to win the A Division (handicap 0-6), with Ador Laxa runner-up on 30.

Resty’s son Rem continued to show his potential in the game of golf when he added another trophy to his growing collection. A 13-year old first year high school student, Rem tallied 35 points to clinch the B Division (7-12) for his second major victory at InterCon having won the last time, when he beat everyone in the tournament, as a C Division (13-18) player. 

Korean golfer Kim Abdullah finished runner-up to Rem on countback after he matched the Filipino teenager’s total.

The C Division crown went to Pakistani beginning golfer Dr. Irfan Rana who savored his breakthrough victory with 33 points. Another doctor, Czech Ivo Zemek, was runner-up in the division on 32 points.

Winning the Ladies Division crown was Evelyn Jensen. Playing in her first tournament after a short vacation in the Philippines, Evelyn shot 34 points.

Narendra Swarup and   Zemek claimed the nearest to the pin awards.

The InterContinental management thanked Danya Foods Production Manager and golfer Vagn Aage Jensen and  Haidar Choughari, country category manager,   for their great support by way of helping facilitate sponsorship to the event. Mounir Melliti, InterContinental recreation manager, and Assisstant Golf Club Manager Baby Joseph expressed their delight at having such a wonderful tournament with the participation of Danya Foods Ltd.

Jensen handed over the trophies and other prizes to the winners assisted by Melliti,   Joseph  and club professional Mohammad Anwar Naz. 

The event concluded with a  sumptuous buffet lunch catered by InterContinental Riyadh.
