- JEDDAH: A Civil Defense helicopter transported two women teachers who were seriously injured in a traffic accident from Sitara village to King Abdul Aziz Hospital in Jeddah on Wednesday.
Lt. Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesman of Civil Defense in the Makkah province, said the accident took place in Houra village, about 80 km from Thoul, and involved a van carrying four teachers and a pick-up carrying two students.
Apart from rescue and fire-fighting teams, the Civil Defense sent a helicopter to transport the teachers after assessing their injuries.
In another development, the Civil Defense in Jeddah on Wednesday received information about an electric short-circuit at a girls school, Sarhan said. The department then sent three fire-fighting and rescue teams to the site, he added. Nobody was injured in the incident.
