- The American giant General Motors is planning to implement a new strategy in the Kingdom's market according to which it will cut down the number of its dealers from four to two, business daily Al-Eqtisadiah reported Wednesday, quoting informed sources.
They said GM’s decision to keep only two dealers is almost certain and expected the American car company to issue a statement to this effect within the next few months.
The two remaining dealers were known for their competence and adherence to the company's standards and specifications.
One of the dealers who was expected to be excluded, denied knowledge of such a step. "What I know is that we are still GM dealers. The company's agreement with all the dealers will terminate by the end of July. At the moment we have not been officially notified of a dismissal," he said.
The sources said the company decided to take this step following a careful study of its markets worldwide, revealing that too many dealers in the same country would not serve its interests.
