- The Saudi Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (SSOMFS) is holding a one day workshop on facial deformities reconstruction techniques at Jeddah’s Crown Plaza Hotel on Thursday.
The SSOMFS was established three years ago and since then it has been conducting and been involved in many educational activities in the Kingdom in collaboration with well recognized institutions.
The main strategy of this society is to broaden its territories, improve medical education and make it accessible to practitioners in all regions of Saudi Arabia.
In addition, it is focusing on making this specialty well known to medical as well as dental fields and establishing relations with other international societies.
This is a one-day workshop focused on facial deformities reconstruction. There will be international speakers from Britain, Germany and Turkey to give lectures about essential topics in maxillofacial surgery including orthognathic surgery, bone grafts and cleft palates.
Orthognathic surgery is a very common procedure and basically corrects jaws.
The main goal of this type of surgery is to achieve correct bite, an esthetic face and enlarged airway.
The second part of this day will be allocated for those meeting general members of SSOMFS and then the elections of the next committee.
