- STC Group took part in Connect Arab world summit, organized by the International Telecommuni-cations Union, in collaboration with the Arab League and the Qatari Supreme Council for Telecommunications and Information Technology, which was held in Doha recently.
Top officials from the Arab world took part in the forum.
They included heads of states, premiers, heads of regulatory bodies and senior executives in addition to prominent magnates of telecom industry and regional as well as international organizations.
Saad bin Dhafer Al-Qahtani, STC Group’s CEO for strategic operations, gave a presentation on behalf of the group during the summit.
The presentation focused on the group’s initiatives in providing advanced infrastructure, modernizing the Internet and rolling-out of cybernetic knowledge in the society.
These initiatives, he added, are meant to cope up with the accelerating changes and developments in the communications and information technology. The initiative to penetrate, and innovate and encourage came in for special mention, as also trust-building related to the broadband wireless network.
Connect Arab states summit, is the third of its kind, in the context of the initiative of interconnecting the world by the International Telecommunications Union, following Africa’s interconnection and the Commonwealth interconnection 2009.
The main objective of any interconnection summit is to name the projects of priority, consolidation of cooperation, inclusion of partners, mobilization of resources and gathering those of interest in order to tackle the priorities earmarked for each region.
