The 10-day event was organized by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) at the Events Garden in Yanbu Industrial City.

The festival, which focused on gardening, farming, irrigation and plant nurseries in addition to latest gardening tools, has been a success economically as well, said director of tree planting and irrigation at RCJY Saleh Al-Zahrani, who is also supervisor general of the festival.

“Hotels and daily rent apartments in Yanbu had 100 percent occupancy while commercial establishments experienced 95 percent higher sales and electronic and telephone shops an average of 50 percent higher sales over the past 10 days,” Al-Zahrani said, pointing to the increasing economic significance of the exhibition.

The last day of the event attracted an unprecedented number of visitors, especially those who wanted to buy garden products at cheap rates.

More than 100 cultural, sports, and religious events including various competitions were organized on the sidelines of the show.

“All sections of the RCJY that participated in the festival had a large number of visitors. Furthermore, wide numerous contests at various pavilions also attracted visitors in large numbers,” director general of operations and maintenance at the RCJY Yusuf Al-Hujaili said.

The programs, which included dramas, athletic games, and religious lectures, were meant for single youths.

David Schub of Hunter International, a company specialized in irrigation and green turfs, said the Yanbu flower exhibition is comparable to other similar shows in Europe.
