- Owners and representatives of private schools and training centers held their first meeting on Monday to establish a committee at the Madinah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) to support them and cater to their needs.
Muhammad Assad Sharbini was elected chairman of the committee and Yousuf Hamid Al-Sayed deputy chairman. Sharbini and Sulaiman Muhammad Al-Muwais were chosen representatives of the committee at the Saudi Council of Chambers, which is based in Riyadh.
Speaking before the meeting, the chairman appreciated the role of the special committees in serving the concerned sectors and said private education was a great support to government education and an important source of qualified and skilled personnel.
The meeting discussed the rights of private schools and their role in boosting education in the Kingdom. The members also discussed a number of topics they would take up in the upcoming meeting with the labor minister.
There are about 60 private schools and training centers in Madinah. The private schools currently represent about 11 percent of the number of schools in all parts of the Kingdom, but under the plan of the Ministry of Education, this ratio would be raised to 25 percent.
