Under the memorandum, KACST will offer the SRCA scientific and technical support. It will provide services on technical advisory and research in the field of electronic communications, information security, and geographic information command systems.

KACST will also share information and expertise on the national plan for science, technology and innovation for the use of the SRCA in its operational work.

According to Prince Faisal, the memorandum of understanding will enhance the cooperation between KACST and SRCA in developing specifications and technical standards in the areas of information technology and communication systems as well as ensure their conformity with international standards.

The memorandum is a completion of a series of services that the Saudi government has been providing to the community. The cooperation aims to modernize the infrastructure of communications systems and information technology in the Red Crescent Authority.

“This would eventually support the field teams ambulatory, and aid stations affiliates, as well as improve electronic equipments, communications, and improve the performance of various systems,” said KACST President Al-Suwaiyel, adding that the agreement came within the framework of his organization's objective to support developments taking place in the Kingdom with the use of modern technology.

“We are coordinating with other government agencies in the field of research, and we exchange experiences and information besides providing consultancy and implementing national projects,” he said.
