- JEDDAH: Two baby girls died in a fire that broke out Friday in a villa in a housing complex for security forces in Jeddah.
- Their mother and five-year old brother survived the blaze.
Civil Defense spokesman Lt. Col. Saeed Sarhan said three rescue teams, two fire brigades and ambulances rushed to the scene.
He said the bodies of the baby girls, aged six months and two years, were pulled out of the burning villa and the 30-year-old mother and her son were sent to hospital for treatment for burns and suffocation. The spokesman did not specify the cause of the fire, but said teams were conducting investigations.
He said another fire that broke out in a courtyard containing scrap cars in the Briman district east of Jeddah was immediately put out.
