President of the King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy Hashim bin Abdullah Yamani is leading the Saudi delegation for the two-day conference, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.

The summit aims to enable cooperation of countries against nuclear terror, which is seen as a major threat. The conference will also seek ways to guarantee that no nuclear material reaches terrorist organisations.

On Friday, the Saudi delegation participated in the preparatory meetings of the states participating in the summit.

The first nuclear safety summit conference was held in Washington in April 2010.
