The reception was attended by a large number of diplomats, Saudi citizens and members of Pakistani community.

Head of the Consular Department of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs Muhammad Nabeel Bukhari was the chief guest at the reception.

Welcoming the guests, Consul General Khan said, "March 23 reminds us the need to dedicate ourselves for the realization of the goals for which Pakistan was established." He said relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are sometimes described in various forms, such as all weather, historical, unique, strategic and time-tested.

The consul general said, however, this relationship is akin to an integrated body. Whenever a part is hurt, the entire body shares the pain and agony. The founding fathers of the two countries let the basis for this relationship be borne out of sincerity, mutual admiration and respect.

He said Pakistan has always been a proponent of global peace and unity among Islamic states and was dedicated to interfaith cooperation and reconciliation.

Khan also said the Pakistani government is today making all efforts to put the country on a rapid track of progress and development. Amid the changing global political scenario, the government is fully cognizant of international cultural and civilizational transformations that the world has been witnessing in the 21st century. All its efforts are, therefore, geared toward promoting interfaith cooperation through dialogue and reconciliation.

Earlier, the national anthems of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan were played. Images about Pakistani arts and culture and a documentary were shown on the occasion.
