National police chief Gen. Priewpan Damapong said Wednesday the pair were among 20 insurgents suspected of being responsible for the car bombing at a high-rise hotel Saturday.

Three people died and more than 200 were injured in the attack at the Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel in the city of Hat Yai. Police also believe the attack was related to a bombing the same day in Yala province that killed 11 people.

More than 5,000 people have been killed in Thailand’s three southernmost provinces since an Islamist separatist insurgency flared in 2004.
