Islamabad civil court convicted five adult family members of OBL including three wives and two daughters on April 2nd on the charges of staying and living in Pakistan without legal documents besides other criminal charges of concealing their identities.

All the members, three wives and 11 children of Osama were with Pakistani authorities since May 2nd last year when American soldiers stormed his hideout in Abbottabad in a clandestine operation killing the most wanted man on earth after over a decade long hiding.

Family members, belonging to two different nationalities were shifted to Islamabad on March 3rd where trial was began against adult members of family for five different sections of Pakistan Penal Code and Passport act. Besides convicting them for 5 weeks, civil judge Shahrukh Arjumand ordered the Pakistani authorities to deport all of them to their respective countries after completion of deportation process.

“Deportation process has been completed as both the countries have agreed to receive them as par the law of Pakistan and would be deported after midnight today when their sentence is completing,” said Amir Khalil, lawyer of all convicts while talking to Arab News.

Despite high profile media coverage of the trial and their conviction there was no likelihood for the family as after decade long bloodshed and turmoil in Pakistan, masses never bought the Al-Qaeda ideology and revisit their thoughts for supporting militancy and religious extremism.

“Pakistanis were really hurt when they came to know that Osama was hiding inside Pakistan spreading death through militancy that’s why his name became the symbol of hatred. We are the biggest victim of his so-called Jihad as the suffering still continues in most parts of Pakistan,” said Riaz Baig Raaj, the renowned columnist and intellectual.

The killing of OBL last year practically buried the popular sentiments in favor of modern Jihadi ideology as many gave credit to OBL for creating fault lines in Pakistani society, which is still soaring.

Raiz Baig Raaj is also among those who were happy on trial and subsequent deportation as they feel charisma of religious militancy has to be buried and concluded in such a way that has exposed the sincerity and genuineness of the imported secret Jihadi methodology.

Despite having options to challenge the court verdict, the lawyer, Amir Khalil was satisfied with the court process and on the advice of the family avoided challenging the verdict and willingly completed the sentence that ended on Tuesday midnight in a lavish house in posh area of capital Islamabad that was declared sub jail by the court.

The imminent deportation is also closing a bloody chapter in Pakistan’s history as according to official figures more than 40,000 people have been killed in a decade long war including over 3000 soldiers, and all credit goes to OBL.
