According to an OIC source, the conference will be attended by a group of ministers and delegates representing 57 member countries.

The conference will also discuss a number of important issues, including the role of Islamic countries’ media in supporting the issue of the holy city of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as setting up two media plans on the mission of media activity abroad to serve Islamic issues and highlighting the role of the African continent in Islam.

In addition, the conference will review other proposals such as one on forming a union for Muslim journalists, opening of OIC media offices in some countries and activating cooperation between the OIC and the Global Digital Solidarity Fund.

Others include coordinating in the media field under the framework of the OIC to present an integrated and comprehensive image for joint Islamic media work, and establishing a union for Muslim journalists.

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) will also take part in the conference, which will end tomorrow. The Gabonese Ministry of Communication, Post and Digital Economy is co-organizing the event.

Dr. El Mahjoub Bensaid, head of ISESCO’s information division, will represent the organization in the conference.

He will give a presentation at the senior officials meeting to be held during the conference, in which he will review ISESCO's efforts in handling misinformation about Islam and Muslims and countering Islamophobia.

Bensaid will also present on ISESCO’s course in training journalists and broadcasters to counter stereotypes about Islam and Muslims in the Western media that was adopted by the Seventh Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers held in Algeria in December last year.
