His show was a big success among young Saudi viewers, with almost 40,000 subscribers and 1,000,000 views.

Ever since he was young, acting has always been his calling, in an effort to follow in the footsteps of the famous Saudi comedian and his mentor, Nasser Al-Qassabi.

moayed Althagafi was born and raised in Jeddah. He lived a divisive life and has been fortunate enough to be accepted in medical school in King Abdulaziz university in Jeddah. “I am participating in the fields of sports especially soccer, acting as I participated in many theatrical performances and short films during my school and university years, stand-up comedy, and traveling,” he said.

What first got you interested in the entertainment business?

the entertainment business was never of personal inter- est, though I always enjoyed acting and public speaking. ultimately, I found myself in the midst of this path.

Why did you decide to start your career in the entertainment business on YouTube and not on the silver screen?

the Youtube revolution was more attractive than the traditional silver screen as it offered us amateurs a greater scope of freedom, which ultimately led to more creative and genuine productions.

Tell us about your YouTube program “Takki”.

It is a drama series reflecting the day-to-day obstacles and ideologies facing the average saudi citizen. through the narration of the script, takki aims to delineate societal pressures and the ways by which an individual can deal with such circumstances. Collectively, the aim is to help create a more understanding and accepting society.

What do you think about the entertainment business in saudi Arabia?

In terms of the recent Youtube revolution, it has been a wave of ambition and creativity driven by the minds of young artists who have faith in the youth making a positive impact on their society. so far, I’m honored to say that we have succeeded, even if on a small scale.

Someone once told me that Saudis are thirsty for entertainment. Do you agree, and why?

What is your next step and where do you see your career going in five or ten years from now?

I am currently in my last semester in medical school, and I do hope to graduate and carry on to eventually become a great doctor. As for my acting career, I hope to continue contributing, even if minimally, in goal-oriented projects that aims to proliferate ideas and challenges for the gradu- al betterment of society.

I am also in the process of cutting my way into the standup comedy arena. I have performed a couple of times and thankfully I have a couple of shows coming up very soon that were put together by my agent. to me, standup comedy is where I can truly express how I feel while being satirical about it.
