- The 1st child carnival was launched in Riyadh on Tuesday at the Disabled Children’s Association (DCA).
Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs Yusuf Al-Othaimin said the event is an awareness and charity program aimed at rallying communal support around the issue of disability, a topic that remains a social and economic concern.
He said the event represents the professional drive adopted by Saudi charity institutions to help realize the comprehensive development in the Kingdom led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and Crown Prince Naif.
The outstanding contribution of the private sector in the carnival reflects its keen interest to enter into partnership with charity institutions to have their message realized, he added.
Deputy Chairman of DCA Abdulrahaman Al-Suwailim stressed DCA’s continued drive to boost the communal goal on how to tackle the issue of disability.
He said the DCA has succeeded in building long-term cooperation relations with business and trade firms to bolster the culture of social responsibility.
The carnival will run for 10 days and showcase work by children.
