The forum is organized by the National Guard Health Affairs and the King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences and will discuss a number of serious and vital medical themes on the safety of patients.

The forum will witness 10 discussion sessions, the presentation of 37 research work papers, and 10 workshops that are to be held under the supervision and participation of international experts.

Dr. Bandar bin Abdulmohsen, chief executive of National Guard Hospital and director of King Saud University for health sciences, said with the cooperation of other institutes their mission is to increase the awareness on the importance of patient safety and offer better care for patients.

He added their vision is to adopt the international standard for the provision of health care and said the National Guard health affairs department aims to maintain reliability in health care.

International experts from the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe and Middle East will participate in the forum. Topics that will be discussed in the forum include global challenges in the field of patient safety, health care systems, transfer of infections through hospitals, patient safety in critical care, patient safety during surgical intervention, technology related to patient safety, safety of medicines and drugs, competent care, and family, patient and community participation.

Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Fayez, president of the organizing committee of the forum and dean of students affairs of King Saud University for health science, said this forum will discuss and disseminate best practice in patients’ health care with the participation of international and regional experts.
