“I demand from you that your offices do not have gatekeepers (to stop people coming to you) or you should not shut yourself off from the people, because you and I are the servants of the people and the nation. But before everything else, we are the servants of our religion, to which we adhere always, if Allah wills. Ours is the religion of honor, dignity, fulfillment and moral values,” the king said in a function in Riyadh after the inauguration of the first phase of the SR81.5 billion university campus projects on Monday.

The king demanded the officials strive hard in serving the people. “I have put a huge responsibility on you. I have chosen you to take up that responsibility. It is imperative that you understand and discharge your responsibility towards your religion, nation and the people,” King Abdullah said in his speech.

The king also reminded them that the responsibility is a trust put on them by him.

Stressing the importance of Islam in the Kingdom, the king said, “We will never move away from the religion. Our sons or grandsons will not move away from it. Saudi Arabian people are a steadfast Muslim nation and are blessed with the opportunity to serve their religion and nation.”

The king concluded his statement wishing the officials success in discharging their responsibilities, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
