A 10-day blood donation campaign themed “Give blood, give life” kicked off at Red Sea Mall in Jeddah recently, which is aimed at creating awareness among the people to voluntarily give blood and save the lives of people.
The campaign is a result of the joint efforts of the National Guard Health Affairs and Maersk Line Company to encourage the public to be part of the noble cause.
“We in Maersk Line support the community as part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitment,” said Hakim Darwish, campaign and communication manger at Maersk Line, Saudi Arabia.
“We have sponsored the blood donation campaign to serve the society and support the efforts of the National Guard Health Affairs toward the noble cause,” said Darwish.
An official of National Guard Health Affairs said he is optimistic about the outcome of the campaign.
“I strongly feel that this campaign will impact our overall efforts to increase the number of voluntary blood donors in Saudi Arabia. To reach all people, we are organizing the drive at companies, malls and many other public places,” he said.
He said the campaign, supported by Maersk Line, encourages more people to donate blood with a message that regular blood donations can ensure the availability of safe blood whenever and wherever required.
