Ten finalists competing for the grand prize of SR 100,000 in the Nada Dairy “Blend us a mix” competition were announced recently.
“We received more than 250,000 entries from participating companies in different countries such as Australia,” Nada Dairy said in a statement.
People can now vote for their favorite blend by visiting nada-mix.com.
The 10 shortlisted mixes are Africano, Cool Breeze, Gulf Breeze, Vanilloz, Juicylicious, Sunrise Mix, Zinjabar, Mangolita, Frulcado and Cocoberry.
The mix creators can now hold social media campaigns of their own.
In a statement, Bader Al-Ruwaihi of Gulf Breeze said: “When I got the call that my mix was shortlisted, I was in a state of disbelief. I did not expect that my mix would be chosen out of 250,000 entries.”
The shortlisting phase involved selecting the most innovative and appropriate names and mixes.
The creator of Africano, Nisreen Al-Saghary, said: “Get a taste of nature with Africano’s mix of fresh avocados, mangoes, guavas and oranges.”
Juicylicious creator, Khaled Al-Faleh, said: “My secret ingredient was three drops of rose water!”
Vanilooz mastermind, Mustafa Al-Hijji, said: “I hope my mix will please palates so that I can win the grand prize. Thanks for your votes.”
Nofal Alawamy, who is behind Sunrise Mix, added: “What encouraged me the most was the fact that the winner’s recipe will be available in stores with the name of the creator.”
Mangolita creator, Mona Khayat, said: “I am a big fan of juices and thanks to Nada, I was given the freedom to blend my own personal mix and let my creative juices flow.”
Ahmed Al-Ghamdy, Cocoberry’s maker, said: “I really want to thank Nada for this amazing initiative. I really hope that my mix will impress online voters.”
The mix with the highest number of votes will win the SR 100,000 grand prize.
Second and third-prize winners will receive SR 50,000 and SR 15,000 respectively.
The winners will receive their prizes during the awards ceremony and will be part of the weekly sweepstakes series of three prizes per week.
The shortlisted participants were eager to share their plans if they win. Cool Breeze designer, Abdulaziz Al-Jabri, said: “If I win I will get married and name my first daughter Nada.”
Ahmed Al-Khemy, creator of Zinjabar mix, said: “If I win the grand prize, I will save it for my children.”
Ageel Al-Ahmed, Nada’s category manager, said: “We believe the competition has been a success because participants were given the opportunity to be creative with their mixes. With the beginning of the second phase, the people have the freedom to select the winner. It will really be the people’s choice.”
