Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furniture Trading Co., IKEA Saudi Arabia, a leading home furnishing retailer in the Kingdom, concluded its “Let’s Play for Change” campaign, which focused on supporting the education of kids at the Disabled Children Association (DCA). The two-month campaign generated SR350,000 as IKEA donated SR2 for every children’s toy sold during that period.
The campaign, which is in its third year, is popular, receiving many generous contributions. At the closing ceremony, Zuhair Al-Maimani, DCA director, received a cheque of SR350,000 from Saud Al-Sulaiman, CEO of IKEA Saudi Arabia.
Al-Sulaiman expressed his gratitude to the community for its constant support for the campaign as well as its contribution in promoting charitable activities. “As part of its global vision, ‘A Better Everyday Life for the many people,’ IKEA is committed to supporting children’s rights by integrating their best interest into everything it does. With this campaign, we seek to help educate, develop, and empower children.
“Our belief that those precious children need a better education opportunity was the main motivation behind the campaign. We thank the DCA for welcoming and supporting this campaign. We also thank our customers in the Kingdom as well as Saudi society for their trust and generous support,” he added.
Al-Maimani commended IKEA’s efforts to provide education for DCA children. “It is my pleasure to proudly express my gratitude to IKEA and its loyal customers for supporting DCA’s educational and development programs. We encourage and urge everyone to follow in the footsteps of IKEA and launch similar campaigns in order to ensure descent living for those precious children,” he said.
At the end of the campaign and to keep customers informed about their generous contributions, the number of toys sold and the money raised will be communicated across IKEA Saudi Arabia’s social media platforms.
“Let’s Play for Change” campaign, which kicked off across all IKEA stores, falls under IKEA’s corporate social responsibility program, which aims to help children receive the quality education they deserve and provide them with opportunities to create a better future for themselves and their families.
