Intercoil International, a UAE manufacturer, distributor and retailer of total sleep solutions across the MENA region, recently commenced operations at its new manufacturing facility in Dammam. The firm said its entry into the Kingdom with an investment of SR20 million ($5.3 million), marks a milestone in the company’s growth outside the UAE.
The new facility, which spans over a gross area of 7,000 square meters and mirrors its UAE facility, will manufacture a comprehensive range of orthopaedic mattresses. The facility will begin production with a daily capacity of 500 mattresses with plans to gradually double mattress capacity over the next three years.
Hassan Al-Hazeem, managing director, Intercoil International, said: “We are very pleased to have commenced operations at our new production and distribution center in Dammam. Given its strategic location, the expansion will allow us to benefit from many opportunities that the Kingdom presents and will most certainly support and fuel our business growth, not only across the GCC but also across MENA and Levant. Additionally, this facility will enhance our competitiveness and allow us to increase our productivity, better our service, and shorten delivery lead times for our customers.”
This year Intercoil is also celebrating a 20-year relationship with Home Centre — a home retailer with a network of 100 stores across GCC, Egypt, Lebanon and India. In lieu of this milestone, Intercoil’s Dammam factory was inaugurated by Mederic Payne, CEO, Home Centre, in the presence of other dignitaries.
Payne said: “Over the years, Intercoil and Home Centre have worked in partnership, continuously aligning business goals to deliver premium sleep solutions to consumers in the UAE and its neighboring markets. This of course includes Saudi Arabia — a market that is key to both. Today, mattresses are the most sold item online in the home category.
Given the strategic location of Intercoil’s new factory, various channels of distribution and overall demand, we are confident that the coming years will prove to be an exciting time with great potential for both companies. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership together with Intercoil as it leads the way with innovation.”
Located in the Dammam second industrial area, the new manufacturing facility will serve Intercoil’s network of showrooms already operating around the Kingdom. The factory will also cater to neighboring countries including Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt.
