Careem, a leading ride-hailing app in the region, has announced the appointment of Ashish Jain as vice president of strategic finance. In this role, Jain will be responsible for Careem’s long-term strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, business finance and procurement.
Jain brings significant experience in finance, strategy and operations. He will lead a team responsible for capital allocation across existing and new businesses and controlling spending across the markets that Careem operates in.
He joins Careem from Snapdeal, one of India’s largest e-commerce companies, where he was senior vice president, overseeing financial planning and analysis, business finance, legal, treasury, company secretarial, investor relations and fundraising.
“I am delighted to join the Careem family. I am excited by the future plans that the company has in store as Careem has achieved amazing progress in such a short time and I think that’s a testament to the impressive team the company has assembled. I’m looking forward to working closely with the team to drive more growth and profitability across the markets,” Jain said.
Prior to Snapdeal, Jain was an associate partner at McKinsey in Singapore, covering telecom, media and technology (TMT) in South East Asia and before that, he was at Telenor Asia, based out of Bangkok, where he was responsible for investments, M&A, performance management, strategy and business development in the region. One of his key achievements at Telnor was leading the team that created their winning business plan bid for Myanmar. Jain also has extensive experience in investment banking and marketing across London, Mumbai and Silicon Valley.
Ashish holds a B.Sc. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from INSEAD in France/Singapore.
