Saudi Arabian Airline (Saudia), the Kingdom’s national flag carrier, has been voted the “Best Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity” and “Best First Class Amenity Kit — Middle East” provider at a prestigious awards ceremony.
The Pax International Readership Awards 2019 honored airlines from around the world in several categories related to inflight experience, such as food service, amenity kits and catering.
PAX International is a publication that focuses on passenger services and in-flight interiors. The magazine’s title refers to the term used by airline workers to describe passengers.
Readers of the magazine voted Saudia’s first class amenity kit as the best in the Middle East. The kit, designed by international guest amenity and hospitality specialist FORMIA, includes a variety of travel essentials in a bespoke premium travel pack for both men and women.
The other award is for the latest advancements in Saudia’s inflight entertainment program.
In the past year, Saudia has added more than 1,000 entertainment hours to its lineup and introduced a free onboard messaging plan — which is available on 104 connected aircraft and includes five chatting applications.
Saudia is the first and only airline in the world to provide a free social messaging plan that includes five of the most popular and widely used applications. Included in the plan is texting up to 10MB on the following applications: WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, WeChat and Instagram chat.
Moreover, since the start of this year, seven aircraft have been retrofitted to include new seatback TV screens and Wi-Fi connectivity. The new aircraft are operating on key European routes to Rome, Milan, Munich, Frankfurt, Geneva and Vienna.
With the new retrofitted aircraft, a new graphical user interface has been added, which comes with many innovative functions and options to add more comfort to the guest’s experience.
Saudia’s fleet includes latest state-of-the-art inflight entertainment systems and features, including more than 4,000 hours of Hollywood movies and latest television shows, box sets, music, multi-language, international and children’s programming, as well as digital and audio books and much more.
