Bureau Veritas, a company specialized in testing, inspection and certification services, has awarded the “SafeGuard” label to 50 Aramco facilities at different locations in the Kingdom. They include office buildings, schools, public facilities, a leisure center, restaurants, gyms, library, and other places.
Bureau Veritas’ label aims to provide an independent assessment of the preventive measures associated with health, safety and hygiene practices (actions, processes and procedures, and systems and controls).
Aramco received the “SafeGuard” label following a rigorous certification process and field audits across all facilities, examining the implementation of policies and procedures aligned with local regulatory requirements, and good hygiene, health and safety practices, to protect against the risks associated with COVID-19.
The label is based on a series of checklists developed by a group of health, safety and hygiene experts, focusing on the most recog- nized global practices created by the World Health Organization, International Labour Organiza- tion, European Medicines Agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
“Aramco’s motive is to make their stakeholders feel ‘safe and secure’ while visiting these facilities and to assure them that the company has taken all the possible measures to keep them safe and run the operations in a risk-free environment,” a statement from Bureau Veritas said. “Aramco has indeed set an example by being the first in the oil and gas industry to have taken these key steps in Saudi Arabia.”
Hanna Jabbour, director of Bureau Veritas in Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria), said: “In the wake of the global health crisis, we have developed the ‘SafeGuard’ label, through which we have the ability to address the new expectations of our society in terms of health and safety.
“The health and safety of our clients, consumers and employees has always been the core concern of our company and has now become an absolute priority in this new normal. Without a doubt, this certification process will contribute to implementing the necessary protection, prevention, hygiene and disinfection measures in Aramco’s office premises.”
