JEDDAH: After months of steady decline in daily confirmed cases of COVID-19, the Kingdom’s count has risen above the 200 mark for the second day in a row.
The Ministry of Health reported 238 new cases on Wednesday, raising the total number of cases in Saudi Arabia to 365,563. Three deaths
Riyadh region recorded the highest number of cases with 86, followed by Eastern Province with 56 cases and Makkah with 38 cases. Madinah and Hail regions reported 11 cases each, while both Asir and Northern Borders reported 10 cases. Jazan, Tabuk and Jouf regions reported one case each.

The ministry also reported 173 recoveries, raising the total number of recoveries in Saudi Arabia to 357,177. The Kingdom’s recovery rate is holding steady at 97.7 percent.
With the increasing daily count, there are currently 2,048 cases, of which 331 are in critical care. There are 94 patients in critical care units in the Makkah region, currently the highest in the Kingdom.
Daily death counts have been in single digits for more than 3 weeks now. Three fatalities were reported on Wednesday, raising the total COVID-19 deaths to 6,300. The highest number of confirmed daily fatalities was reported on July 4, 2020 with 58 people died.
