Local chapter of Bharat Scouts opens

RIYADH, 8 March — Indian Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad inaugurated the Saudi Arabian chapter of Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G) at a function held at the Embassy of India auditorium recently. The ambassador recalled the exciting moments of his boyhood when he was a scout and how he steadily progressed in scouting to reach the highest position as a scout president. He said he was happy to be patron of the local body and assured support to it. Dr. Abdullah Al-Fahad, secretary general of Saudi Boy Scouts Association, congratulated the organizers of BS&G and said scouting is a worldwide movement and brotherhood. Jerry D. Schmersahl, troop committee chairman of American Boy Scouts Association, and Jim Milne, group scout leader of British Boy Scouts Association, felicitated the scouts. Laiq Ali Aydrose gave an overview of the scout movement. M.J. Siddique, principal of International Indian School-Riyadh (IISR), M.R.L. Jafrey, director IISR, Tabassum Farooqi, principal, Middle East International School, and M.C. Sebastian of Al Yasmin International School, were among those present. T.K. Somasekharan, secretary and commissioner of BS&G, in his welcome address reviewed the work of the organization since its inception.
