DUBAI, 19 December 2004 — Dubai has launched what is described as a world-class knowledge institution and the first of its kind in the Gulf region that would start offering courses in governance and public administration in March 2005.
The Dubai School of Government (DSG), which will be housed at the Dubai World Trade Center, was launched during this week’s Arab Strategy Forum under the directives of Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defense Minister Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum.
The institution, which has been set up with help from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government (KSG), will work with international experts in governance in order to give its students the best government management practices. Its target students are regional decision-makers, top ranking officials, undersecretaries, ministers and senior executives from the UAE and the Arab world.
It will introduce a master’s program in public administration and public policy in 2008.
