LONDON: A fourth person was charged on Wednesday over alleged terror offenses following a protest supporting the banned group Palestine Action in Edinburgh.
Support for the group, which was proscribed under the Terrorism Act earlier this year, is illegal in the UK.
The four charges follow a series of demonstrations in towns and cities across the country from Nov. 18-29, The Independent reported.
The rallies — held in Oxford, Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham and elsewhere — were hosted by Defend Our Juries, an organization calling for an end to the ban on Palestine Action.
On Nov. 18, dozens of local activists in Edinburgh gathered outside Queen Elizabeth House, a UK government office in the Scottish capital.
Police said that today’s charge was issued against a second man taking part in the protests.
On Tuesday, police said two women and a man were charged over alleged terrorism offenses at the demonstrations.
Investigations are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal, Scotland’s public prosecution service.
