Russia’s Primorsk and Ust-Luga ports on the Baltic Sea suspended oil and fuel loadings on March 22 following drone attacks, two sources said on Monday. A fuel reservoir at Primorsk caught fire after a drone attack, Alexander Drozdenko, the governor of the northwestern Leningrad region, said on the Telegram messaging app on Monday.
Ust-Luga was closed due to a drone alert in the area, the sources said.
Primorsk and Ust-Luga ports are both located in the Leningrad region and handle the majority of crude oil and fuel exports from Russia’s west.
Oil pipeline monopoly Transneft, which operates both ports, did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
