Strictly Business: Al Baik/Coca-Cola

In a collaborative effort, Express Food Company Ltd. Al Baik, its corporate social responsibility program Ta’awanuh (cooperate) and Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Saudi Arabia launched a large scale environment awareness campaign in Jeddah on Tuesday night, which aims to encourage the public to protect the environment. The campaign under the theme “Littering is a mistake that puts our city in trouble we can’t escape” joined one of the largest global environmental campaigns supported by the UN Environment Program entitled “Clean up the world.” The Al Baik/Coca-Cola campaign was launched at a press conference held at Sultan Mall. Presented in a creative and innovative manner, the event comprised numerous surprises for the media and their children most notably the unveiling of the campaign’s spokespersons Nazeeh and Wartan. The cartoon spokespersons were two unique characters with distinct personalities, behaviors and looks that were created and selected exclusively for the intended target audience in order to reinforce the message of caring for and protecting the environment.

DGCX

The Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX), described as the first electronic multi commodity derivatives exchange in the Middle East, took a major step toward commencement of operations this week, when it announced that the exchange is open for membership. DGCX also announced that it would commence trading in November this year in precious metals contracts, and identified its initial clearing banks. At an industry function and press conference in Dubai, Dr. David Rutledge, chairman of the exchange and acting CEO of Dubai Metals & Commodities Center (DMCC), said that the opening of the membership was a milestone not only for DGCX, but also for the entire regional market. “DGCX is a key initiative for Dubai and we believe that the exchange will create a dynamic and transparent marketplace, which will generate greater trade flows and associated benefits within the region, including creation of jobs and wealth,” he said. DGCX Vice Chairman Jignesh Shah said the exchange would initially restrict its membership in broker and trader categories to 250 each.

American Express

Saleh Ghaleb Al Haqabi of Al Haqabi Men’s Clothing, and Salah Salem Al Ammari together with Abdullah Salem Al Ammari of Salem Al Ammari for gold & Jewelry Shops are the winners in the American Express’ recently launched campaign recognizing merchants and service establishments for their support and acceptance of American Express cards. “Our strategy is to provide American Express card members and merchants with products and services that meet their needs,” said Fahad Al Guthami, head of sales and merchant marketing, Amex (Saudi Arabia) Ltd., who presented the winners with their prizes.

Audi

With the participation of more than 40 Audi car owners, SAMACO, Audi car dealer in the Kingdom, offered an opportunity to the customers and owners of its cards, in addition to the members of Audi Sport Club, through organizing an autocross race. The race was held at the Jeddah Carting Circuit. It gathered more than 40 Audi car owners as well as the club’s members along with the contribution of autocross champion Fadi Hamadah. SAMACO organized and managed the event under the supervision of Salah Yamout, Audi’s national sales and marketing manager. Yamout unveiled the club’s program for this year which aims to boost interaction and communication between Audi customers. Mobil 1 and Red Bull cosponsored the race.
