A senior Australian delegation, led by Australian Ambassador to the UAE, Arthur Spyrou, visited Emirates SkyCargo’s state-of-the-art cargo terminal SkyCentral at Al Maktoum International-Dubai World Central Airport (DWC) on June 8.
The delegation included Australian Consul General Gerard Seeber, Deputy Consul General and Trade Commissioner Elodie Journet, and other representatives from the Australian Embassy in the UAE.
The delegation toured Emirates SkyCargo’s extensive cool chain facilities, focusing particularly on the carrier’s capabilities in transporting food products including fresh produce, seafood, and meat. The MENA region is one of the largest meat markets for Australia and the Australian government is looking at ways in which to further encourage Australian organizations to take advantage of the Dubai Logistics hub.
Emirates SkyCargo is the largest international cargo operator in the world and helps transport cargo to customers in over 150 destinations across the globe. Emirates has a dedicated fleet of 15 freighters 13 Boeing 777Fs, and two Boeing 747-400Fs.
Emirates SkyCentral began operations in May 2014 and can handle up to 700,000 tons of cargo every year. SkyCentral has 15,000 sqm of dedicated storage for temperature-sensitive goods such as pharmaceuticals, fresh fruits and vegetables and seafood.
