Specialists in the treatment of kidney diseases said there is an increase in the number of those affected during the past few years.

During sessions of a medical forum by the Al-Madinah Club for treating kidney disease in cooperation with the Sanovi Company, which specializes in health care in the Kingdom, doctors pointed out the importance of the early treatment of chronic kidney disease.

Dr. Adnan Al-Fi, a consultant in internal and kidney medicine in the Ministry of Health, said the number of individuals subject to dialysis has increased over the past few years. He expects the number to exceed 150,000 at the end of 2015, with an increase of 8.2 percent. He said the Kingdom has 182 dialysis centers with 4,755 machines to serve 12,116 patients.
