The Saudi Customs officers at King Fahd Causeway have foiled an attempt to smuggle a European woman into the Kingdom from Bahrain, local media said.

Elaborating on the incident, Dhaifalla Al-Otaibi, acting director general of King Fahd Causeway Customs, said a Pajero four-wheel driven by a Briton approached the customs checkpoint, and upon inspection the officials found a woman hidden in the car.

The woman did not hold a passport and was reportedly trying to conceal herself under the floor mat of the rear seats covered with a carpet.

Al-Otaibi took the occasion to express his appreciation toward the role being played by the customs officers and their efforts in foiling attempts of unauthorized persons to enter into the Kingdom.

Last October, two Bangladeshis were arrested for trying to smuggle an Ethiopian man inside a refrigerator truck.

During the search, the police found the Ethiopian national hidden between the racks of frozen chicken being transported.
