JEDDAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal recently launched an anti-graft campaign in association with the Ministry of Interior and the National Anti-Corruption Commission (Nazaha) aimed at public and private sector workers, students and families.
Prince Khaled highlighted the importance of the Nazaha’s public awareness campaign, “Our Homeland Is Our Trust.” He said it was important for people to fear Allah so that they do not commit acts that would jeopardize the country’s development.
He said the Qur’an and Sunnah are the pillars of the campaign and that it is the duty of everyone to monitor public servants for unethical behavior, which would ensure quality service delivery in the country.
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Abdulkadir, deputy chairman of the Nazaha, said the country’s growth was dependent on transparent and accountable practices. The country’s “faithful soldiers" stationed on the front lines were an integral part of this campaign, he said.
Abdulkadir said the campaign aims to instill a set of values and principles in people that would help change their behavior. “We hope through this campaign to spread the message directly to the community about the importance of moral values that would eradicate corruption in society,” he said.
The governorate plans to set up a supervisory committee overseeing this initiative involving various government agencies and would soon hold a series of meetings. The campaign would feature seminars, workshops and direct meetings with government officials, citizens, students and young people.
