JEDDAH: The victims of Friday’s terror attack at a mosque in Al-Ahsa are likely to be buried on Monday, but the exact date cannot be announced because all bodies have not yet been handed over to the relatives, Shaker Alalio, the head of the funeral committee, has said.

“A delay in handing over the bodies is unlikely because the deaths occurred due to shooting and not because of the blast. Hence, it is not difficult to identify the bodies and DNA test may not be required,” he was quoted as saying by local media on Sunday.

A large number of people, including prominent leaders, attend such funerals. Hence, the need for such committees to make the arrangements.

Four people were killed and 36 injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up and his accomplice opened fire when alert security men stopped them at the gate of the Al-Ridha Mosque in the Mahasen neighborhood during the congregational prayer.

The family members of the martyrs have been receiving large number of mourners from different segments of society since the attack.

The mosque, which is under the control and supervision of the competent bodies, is expected to be opened soon for prayers.

A pall of gloom has descended on the neighborhood, although life is gradually coming back to normal.
