The Council of Ministers, chaired by Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Salman, yesterday approved a series of measures to ensure quick implementation of government projects.

“The Cabinet approved the arrangements for tackling delayed or stalled development and service projects of various government departments,” said Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja.

Governmental bodies have to set up mechanisms soon to facilitate the management of their projects and ensure their completion on time.

“They must submit reports every six months to the Standing Committee at the Royal Court to follow up and review the implementation of development and service projects,” the minister said.

The Cabinet has urged departments to draw up a specific timetable for the implementation of their projects, he added.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet reviewed regional and international developments, especially the escalation of violence in Syria, the killing and displacement of innocent civilians and the destruction of infrastructure. It condemned the blatant interference of Hezbollah in the Syrian crisis.

The Cabinet appreciated Arab and international efforts to end the Syrian crisis, stressing in this context the content of a statement issued in a meeting between the Arab League foreign ministers.

The Cabinet emphasized the need for sending more relief supplies to those affected inside Syrian territories and the displaced people. “The international community should assume its humanitarian responsibilities and work on the delivery of food and medical aid to the afflicted,” it said.

The Cabinet congratulated Yemenis on the success of the first phase of a comprehensive national dialogue and the launch of the second phase, which will pave the way for Yemen’s recovery from crisis. It reiterated its support for Yemen’s security, stability and unity.
