JEDDAH: The Wa’eya initiative has achieved positive results in terms of spreading legal awareness among women and helping them through exhibitions, lectures and other events, Faisal bin Talaa Al-Tayea, who is responsible for the program, has said.

The initiative was launched two years ago to spread legal awareness among women because of the great role they play in society, he was quoted as saying by local media on Monday.

Wa’eya was originally launched in the women’s prison in Al-Malaz, where the program achieved many successes in the field of legal support and education for inmates.

It offered legal consultations and helped many prisoners obtain their release by offering financial bonds.

Al-Tayea said that Wa’eya moved to share legal awareness and knowledge at Saudi universities by organizing lectures at Princess Nora University, King Saudi University and Prince Sultan College. The program was greatly appreciated by the young women at these universities.

As part of the initiative, a legal education program was also organized through Al-Asayil exhibition in Al-Faisaliah at the Prince bin Abdul Aziz Hall. The program provided a series of legal lectures in all systems needed by businesswomen at Riyadh Chamber of Commerce for three months.
