DAMMAM: Abdussalam Kanniyan, chairman of the International Indian School in Dammam (IISD), has been honored with the “Person of the Year 2015” award by Vatakara NRI Forum, a community group in the Eastern Province.

The award was based on his outstanding performance in the field of community service and perceptive contributions in the field of children’s education.

Abdussalam, who teaches at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), was elected as the member of the IISD managing committee with highest number of votes by parents of school students.

Abdussalam is credited with taking initiatives for school development programs, including a creativity center for young talents, a language lab for students and smart classrooms with online evaluation by students of teachers.

He is keen to establish a clear rapport between the school management and the community.

He has an extensive experience of 19 years in different universities and colleges and has presented papers at various international conferences all over the world. He is on the editorial board of six international journals and has to his credit many research publications.
