The opening of a Turkish-style Grand Bazaar at a local hotel here showcased a number of Saudi businesses.

The event had various products on display including clothes, perfume, makeup, food, traditional heritage items, handmade products, handicrafts, designer wear, jewelry and decorations. It was inaugurated by Princess Mishaal bint Mughrain bin Abdulaziz.

The bazaar was organized by the United Wings company with the cooperation of a number of Saudi businessmen and companies, magazines and publishing companies. Saudi Research & Publishing Company, owner of Arab News, is the media sponsor.

Princess Mishaal said: “I feel really proud at how Saudi women successfully and skillfully brought a number of traditional and international products to this Turkish-style Grand Bazaar, and added their own Saudi flavor."

She said the products on display demonstrated that Saudi women are hardworking and successful. The event would help people see the traditions and culture of Saudi Arabia.

Organizer Rasha Hafiz of United Wings said that the event was organized for customers specifically in Ramadan and Eid.

Charities also participated in the bazaar with locally made products.

Almost 100 woman-owned businesses and many other companies participated in the bazaar. A similar event will be held in October, also at the Hilton in Jeddah.

Rasha Filemban, a tourism operator, said domestic tourism was promoted at the event.
