JEDDAH: There would be more traffic patrols deployed on the nation’s highways equipped with special technology to check the identities of drivers who violate the law.

This is according to Othman bin Nasser Al-Mohrej, director of the Public Security department, who recently led activities at the 3rd Forum for Heads of Special Road Forces at the headquarters of the body in Al-Nasriyah.

In his speech, Al-Mohrej welcomed the participants and relayed the greetings of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and interior minister. He said the country’s security agencies were geared up to tackle all challenges.

Al-Mohrej said there would be heavy punishment for those found covering over their license plates or exceeding speed limits.

The forum began with a reading of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a short speech from Brig. Zayed Al-Tuwayan, the commander of the special forces for road security.

Al-Tuwayan outlined the activities of the agencies on the nation’s roads and said that there were several measures in place to tackle violators

Also in attendance at the forum were assistant directors of public security and heads of traffic and special forces departments, and the adviser to the director general of public security.
