RIYADH: Indian Ambassador Ahmad Javed arrived on Wednesday to take up his new assignment at the country’s mission in Riyadh.

According to a press release, he was received at the King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) by Deputy Chief of Mission Hemant Kotalwar and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The key diplomatic post has been lying vacant since April when his predecessor, Hamid Ali Rao, left the Kingdom after his retirement from the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Prior to his new assignment, Javed served as the police commissioner in Mumbai.
