JEDDAH: There was a cute new participant in the country’s “Nation’s Imprint” campaign recently, the handprint of a three-day-old baby girl added by her parents in Makkah.

This the smallest handprint made for the campaign, which was launched in January targeting 1 million people.

There has seen significant response from citizens across the country, according to a report in a local publication.

The print belongs to Wateen Khalid Al-Otaibi, who had her hand colored with green ink by her mother. Her father said the family wanted to show their loyalty to the country.

At the school where the little girl made her mark, the headmistress, Fayzeh Al-Ghanami, said the campaign was important to create awareness among the country’s youth about the dangers of extremism.

Al-Ghanami said there has been a good response from students at the school and that the little girl’s handprint has added a “beautiful complexion” to the campaign.

There are 21 young males and females helping to supervise the campaign in the region, under the guidance of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, adviser to the king. There are 150 events being held as part of the campaign in the region.
